Few people have even heard of Ganutell – of these people there are only a handful that know that the term Ganutell is also used to describe a type of spiral wire. This special wire is beautiful – comes in metallics and colors as well – and it’s used to embellish Ganutell flowers.
Here’s a flower I just created that uses 1mm ganutell wire for the petals in the upper layer, and uses the same ganutell wire in the larger petals as an embellishment. I adore the creamy pearls against the antique gold of the wire. The white spun thread has a lovely pearlescence that doesn’t show well in the photograph, but adds warmth and interest to the flower.
Ganutell wire is wonderfully fun to use, but can be very pricey, so when I choose to include it in my bead and wire flowers, I try to use it well and wisely! I hope you like it!
